Transformative Research Awards Launched

The Hereditary Disease Foundation is thrilled to launch today, on Rare Disease Day, a new initiative that takes us to the next level in funding the most exciting and promising Huntington’s disease research worldwide.

The HDF Transformative Research Award program will make funds available to advance transformational collaborative projects that will provide new insights into disease mechanisms or create or implement technologies not previously applied to Huntington’s disease research for the advancement of therapeutics.

Made possible through the extraordinary vision of several of our generous donors, the Transformative Research Award program is intended to push the envelope and stimulate revolutionary advances.

“We are eager to see bold ideas that can lead to major advances in scientific discovery,” said Meghan Donaldson, CEO of the Hereditary Disease Foundation. “We thank our donors whose foresight has made our Transformative Research Award program possible. Their remarkable support enables us to fund breakthrough research that will accelerate the pace to achieve our goal of conquering Huntington’s disease.”

Invitation to Scientists
Investigators from academic institutions, companies, national laboratories, nonprofit institutes, and multi-institutional teams are welcome to apply. Partnerships between academia and industry and those bringing scientific expertise from outside the Huntington’s disease field are strongly encouraged. Annual funding can range from $300,000-500,000 per award per year with appropriate justification for up to a two-year period. Funding can be used for principal investigator, co-investigator, staff scientists, postdoctoral researchers and, where applicable, graduate students’ salaries.
